The low-income home cooling assistance program opens today for home-bound and elderly households in our area. Households must meet income criteria and be responsible for paying the cost of home cooling this Summer.
The Low Income Energy Assistance Program, which is commonly called LIHEAP, assists eligible, low-income residents with heating and cooling costs. The Georgia Department of Human Services contracts with North Georgia Community Action, Inc. to administer the program and applications are still being accepted for 2018. LIHEAP benefits are open to U.S. citizens or aliens admitted to the U.S. for lawful, permanent residence.
Homebound and elderly households in Chattooga County may call North Georgia Community Action in Summerville at 706-857-0729.
