Summer Jobs for Georgia Youth
The Northwest Georgia Workforce Investment Board
(WIB) in partnership with the Georgia Department of Labor
(GDOL) will provide approximately 30 summer jobs
for youth aged 14 through21 enrolled in the Chattooga
County school system as well as Rome City schools. Each
school system should receive 15 slots.
The grant will provide $1,000,000 for summer jobs
statewide, with $39,958 designated for northwest Georgia.
The grant will be used to assist economically disadvantaged
youth, as well as those with disabilities, with work
experience. Each youth will typically work 32 h ours per
week and earn $5.85 per hour.
The initiative is in its sixth year and has previously allocated
$5.3 million to serve 5920 youth statewide
