Summerville City Manager Janice Galloway announced her retirement on Monday evening at the Summerville City Council meeting. Galloway has served as Summerville City Manager since 2018. 

She took the position after the death of former City Manager Tony Carrol who passed away in July of 2018.  Galloway had worked at the Summerville Water Treatment Plant before serving as city manager.  Galloway’s tenure as city manager has seen some trying times with the city’s water crisis in 2020 when the city’s water supply was determined to have high-levels of P-FOS chemicals.  The city’s water system took another hit with the flooding over Labor Day weekend this year.

The Summerville City Council will now begin the process of naming an interim city manager.  They will then begin the search for permanent city manager.
