The Summerville City Council held a called meeting on Monday evening to finalize requirements for future liquor stores in the city limits.
The council has been working on the ordinance for several months and came to an agreement on the details for the ordinance. Voters in Summerville approved packaged liquor sales, but it is up to the council to determine the regulations for potential businesses that will be allowed to sell the packaged liquor.
City Councilman Rickey Hughes told WZQZ, “We finalized the requirements to be put in an ordinance for the distilled spirit stores. Will be having a public hearing for it soon.”
The council also held a discussion about a potential “entertainment zone” for the city but no decision has been made about that proposal.
