The Summerville City Council met on Monday evening of this week and continued the discussion on the downtown “Entertainment District”. The proposal would allow an area in downtown Summerville where patrons could drink alcohol during entertainment events.
The city is patterning their idea along the lines of what the City of Rome has done. Rome City officials spoke to the Summerville City Council last month and said that their entertainment district has not seen any problems since they implemented it.
On Monday, the council made some adjustments to the entertainment district proposal. They decided to move the beginning hours for alcohol being served back from 3 PM to Noon. Also, the council expanded the area to include the sidewalk in front of Jefferson’s.
The council also had the second reading and adoption of the packaged liquor ordinance at Monday’s meeting.
