The Summerville City Council will be meeting on Monday evening for their May session.

There are several spending issues on the agenda for tomorrow evening’s meeting and the council will also be voting on the approval of pay for the city’s firefighters.  Also, the council will be taking up proposals for the Summerville Youth Wrestling Program.

There has been some contention between Summerville Mayor Harry Harvey and the city council over the issue.  In the past, the city has always provided money for the youth wrestling program, but this year, the mayor vetoed a measure to fund youth wrestling.  Harvey says that he did so on the advise of the city’s attorney, but the council believes they have found away around the mayor’s veto and has asked for groups to submit proposals to run the program on behalf of the city’s recreation department.

Tomorrow’s meeting gets underway at 5 PM at Summerville City Hall and the public is invited to attend.
