At a special called meeting this evening, the Summerville City Council will consider an ordinance to allow the sale of packaged alcohol on Sundays, as well as allowing the sale of alcohol by the drink in local restaurants on Sundays.

The City of Summerville is set to hold a special called Council meeting this evening at Summerville City Hall at 5:00 pm for the purpose of the following:

1. Open a public hearing for an Ordinance to amend the Code of Ordinances to allow for Sunday package sales of malt beverages and wine, to authorize a referendum, to provide for an adoption and effective date, and to provide for other lawful purposes.
2. Open a public hearing for an ordinance to amend the Code of Ordinances to allow for Sunday sales of alcoholic beverages by the drink, to authorize a referendum, to provide for an adoption and effective date, and to provide for other lawful purposes.
3. Consider awarding a contract to the lowest bidder for the re-wiring of Dowdy Park and to approve the purchase of materials to complete the project.
