Two Summerville residents are facing multiple drug trafficking charges following a traffic stop on Redmond Road in Rome on Tuesday that led to the discovery of a significant amount of methamphetamine.
According to Floyd County Jail records, the incident began when a vehicle driven by 47-year-old Timothy James Sweeney was pulled over by authorities for failure to maintain a lane.
Following a K9 alert, a subsequent search of the vehicle yielded approximately 120 grams of methamphetamine and a digital scale.
Sweeney and his passenger, 41-year-old Samantha Crowe Deberry, were both arrested and charged with felony trafficking methamphetamine, possession of methamphetamine, possession of methamphetamine with intent to distribute, and possession of drug-related objects.
Deberry faces additional charges, including possession of Schedule II and Schedule IV controlled substances, and possession of drugs not in the original container. These additional charges stem from the discovery of more methamphetamine and alprazolam found during her arrest.
Both Sweeney and Deberry were booked into the Floyd County Jail.
