A Summerville couple’s home was damaged in a fire on Thursday and the family was displaced due to the blaze.

Summerville Fire Chief Robbie Lathem told WZQZ News on Friday that the call about the fire came in at 3:21 PM and the Summerville Fire Department was on the scene by 3:25.  Lathem said that the home, located at 1022 Martin Street suffered excessive smoke damage due to the fire.  The fire chief says that it appears the fire started in the kitchen and a stove may be the culprit.

The American Red Cross was called in to help Ray Caldwell and his wife find a place to stay because of the fire.

The Summerville Fire Department, Hays Correctional Fire Department and the Trion Fire Department were all on the scene.
