Summerville Main Street will be highlighting locally-owned businesses this week during “National Small Business Week.”

Every year since 1963, the President of the United States has issued a proclamation announcing National Small Business Week, which recognizes the critical contributions of America’s entrepreneurs and small business owners. More than half of Americans either own or work for a small business, and they create about two out of every three new jobs in the U.S. each year.

In this year’s proclamation, President Biden said, “Our Nation’s small businesses define our communities, drive innovation, and create the products and services that enrich our lives and solve global problems to build a better and more sustainable world.  By harnessing the power of our small business economy and equipping our entrepreneurs with the tools and resources they need to innovate, adapt, and grow, our economy will continue to build back better than ever before.  America’s small businesses are up to the task.”

Summerville Main Street will be offering video highlights on their Facebook page.  Local residents are encouraged to get out and support the many locally-owned businesses in Chattooga County during National Small Business Week starting today and going through Saturday.
