A forty-one-year-old Summerville man was arrested by the Chattooga County Sheriff’s Office after he claimed his brother had tried to break down his door and shoot him with a taser.
Deputies responded to a 911 call about a domestic in progress on Midway Road. When they arrived, they found the man who made the 911 call sitting calmly on his front porch. When deputies asked when the supposed attack had happened, the man told officers “about 45 minutes ago”. That story conflicted with what he had told 911 dispatchers. As deputies began to question the man’s story, he started talking about random subjects and what all he had been doing that day. When pressed for more information about the alleged attack, the man began to complain that he was “the only one who pays any bills around here”.
The man then got up and attempted to go in the house and slam the door in the deputy’s face. But the deputy reacted quickly and cuffed the man and arrested him on charges of false report of a crime, obstruction of law enforcement and unlawful conduct during a 911 call. Jay Michael Wandell was then booked into the Chattooga County Jail.
