A Summerville man is facing multiple drug charges after police say they located methamphetamine and drug paraphernalia during a late-night traffic stop. According to the incident report, the arrest happened on November 15th after authorities issued a lookout for a green Honda Civic linked to an earlier shoplifting incident at the Summerville Walmart.

Just before midnight, an officer patrolling the Edmondson Street area spotted a vehicle matching the description with two people inside. The driver, later identified as Ricky Bankston, 37, appeared nervous and was removed from the vehicle for questioning. Police say they immediately smelled what they believed to be a hand-rolled marijuana cigar coming from inside the car.

A search of the vehicle uncovered a glass cylindrical pipe containing suspected methamphetamine residue, along with a small bag of marijuana. Officers also found a blue bag on the passenger side containing additional suspected methamphetamine. All items were collected and logged as evidence.

Bankston was taken into custody and is charged with possession of methamphetamine, possession of less than one ounce of marijuana, possession of drug-related objects, and crossing the guard line with drugs. He was transported to the Chattooga County Jail without further incident.
