A Summerville man was booked into the Floyd County Jail Sunday on a felony warrant charging him with theft by taking.
Floyd County Police say that the theft happened in December of last year when forty-two-year-old Timothy Clayton Swann took a 2018 Jeep Grand Cherokee from Kings Inn in Rome. Reports say that after stealing the Jeep, Swann ran a yield sign and struck another vehicle.
After causing the wreck, Swann is accused of fleeing the scene.
It was later discovered that he had been driving on a suspended license.
Swann is charged with theft by taking a motor vehicle, hit and run, driving on a suspended license, failure to yield right of way, and two counts probation violation.
