According to a report released this week by the Summerville Police Department, a fifty-three-year-old Northwest Congress Street, Summerville man was arrested earlier this month on DUI charges after a Summerville police officer saw him driving and knew that the driver had suspended or revoked license.
The officer performed a traffic stop after he saw the truck the man was driving pull out of the High-rise apartments. Before the officer could finish radioing the vehicle’s information in to 911, the driver jumped out of the truck and told the officer he was only “driving a short distance”. The driver, identified as Tony Grant Colbert, admitted to having drank six beers and told the officer he had consumed the last one about thirty minutes before the traffic stop. A police officer found an opened beer inside the vehicle.
Colbert was arrested and charged with DUI, operating a motor vehicle with license suspended and open container of alcohol and was booked into the Chattooga County Jail.
