A Back Berryton Road man was charged with assaulting his elderly mother after a deputy found the woman in her bedroom with multiple bruises.

According to a report from the Chattooga County Sheriff’s Office, a deputy performed a welfare check at the home of the elderly woman.  When the deputy arrived, the woman’s son said that she was sick and in her room.  The deputy insisted on seeing the woman for himself and found her in bed with obvious signs of physical assault.

Seth Pickle was charged with battery under the Family Violence Act and exploitation or intimidation of an elderly adult.
