A 28-year-old Summerville man, Codie Mac Creekmore, is listed as the suspect in a reported attempted break-in and vandalism incident at United By Faith Baptist Church, located at 1794 Highway 114 in Summerville.

According to the incident report, the church discovered damage after reviewing surveillance video that showed a man repeatedly pulling and yanking on the front double doors of the sanctuary in an apparent attempt to force entry. The activity was reported to have occurred between the afternoon of January 6 and the evening of January 7.

The church’s pastor, Barry Brown, met with investigators and provided information for the report. Video footage reportedly shows the suspect approaching the building on more than one occasion and attempting to open the doors by force. The church later requested estimates for repairs to the damaged doors.

The case lists the charges as Criminal Damage to Property in the Second Degree and Vandalism to a Place of Worship. Additional church representatives named in the report include Assistant Pastor John McGraw and Deacon Tommy Middleton. The incident remains part of an ongoing record of reported cases in Chattooga County.
