The annual Summerville Mini Renaissance Festival will take place this Saturday, October 11th,  at J. R. “Dick” Dowdy Park in downtown Summerville from 11 AM until 5 PM. The event features royalty, fairies, pirates, and more, with an official welcome from “Queen Vashti,” the King, and the Royal Court. This free community festival will proceed rain or shine.

Attendees can expect traditional Renaissance performances from artists across Georgia, Tennessee, and Alabama. Costumes are encouraged for added fun. The festival will include live entertainment, shopping, art, games, and a feast. Performances will showcase acts like belly dancing, archery, and fire fan dancing. Guests are encouraged to tip the performers. Special activities for children include a ticketed “Tea and Fun time with Fairy Grandmother” at 12:30 p.m. and a Knighting Ceremony at noon, with tickets available for $10 at the Summerville Main Street Information Booth. Other children’s activities include stick horse racing and face painting.

New this year, there will be two interactive quests for participants to enjoy. Quest 1, “Receive A Blessing from The King & Queen,” starts at festival opening and runs all day. Quest 2, “The Stolen Crown Jewels,” begins at 12 noon and ends at 2:30 p.m. The festival will also feature traditional foods, handcrafted goods, and various entertaining services. The day will wrap up with a traditional “Pub Sing” from 4:00 p.m. to 4:30 p.m. More information is available on the City of Summerville Georgia Facebook page.
