Chattooga County Commissioner Jason Winters issued a proclamation honoring Chattooga County’s weekly newspaper, The Summerville News.

Commissioner Winters read the proclamation at the commissioner’s meeting on Thursday evening.  Winters recognized the roll that the local paper has played in Chattooga County over its 125 year history and pointed out that the Espy Family has published the paper for four generatons.

The commissioner surprised Summerville News reporter Jason Espy with the proclamation and said that he planned to go to the offices of the newspaper on Friday to present the proclamation to the other members of the Espy family.
