Summerville Police issued a citation to three people after a gas department worker notified police about the lock being cut off of a gas meter on Hinton Street last Thursday.

Police arrived on the scene and spoke with the city employee who said that they found the lock cut off the meter and that they would be removing the meter for theft of utilities.

Police issued a citation to all three adults living at the residence.  One of the residents said that she was unaware that the gas had been turned back on and that their  lease agreement said that gas would be supplied.

Police told the woman that a citation was issued to anyone “who benefited” from the gas being turned on and that she should bring a copy of the lease with her when she comes to court.
