The Summerville Police Department is investigating a vehicle theft involving a grey Volkswagen Passat. The car was reported stolen on February 3, 2025, by its owner, Zack Christopher, who stated it was last seen at 7:05 PM the previous evening. He mentioned that the keys were left inside the car.
Later that day, Summerville Police Officer Aaron Wentz found a car matching the stolen Passat’s description at the Melrose Apartments on College Street. After confirming the license plate “SAV4093,” a check with the Georgia Crime Information Center verified it was indeed the stolen vehicle. The car was locked, and no keys were found inside, but there were dirty tennis shoe prints on the hood and roof that were documented as evidence. Mr. Christopher arrived at the scene to retrieve his vehicle.
Summerville Detective Ty Hutchins spoke with local residents at the apartment complex, but they could not provide useful information. With the assistance of the Chattooga County Sheriff’s Office, Officer Wentz also utilized the Flock Camera System, which showed the stolen Passat had been seen multiple times in Floyd County, with the last sighting at 7:50 AM on February 3, heading north on Highway 100.
The investigation continues as police seek more information about the theft and abandonment.
