A drug arrest was made by Summerville Police after responding to a call about someone driving erratically on Highway 48 on Tuesday of last week.

Officers observed the vehicle as it came into the city limits and made a stop on Rome Boulevard in the United Community Bank parking lot.

The driver of the vehicle denied using alcohol or drugs, but officers observed the passenger acting in a nervous manner.  Officers asked the driver for consent to search, which was granted.

Officer asked the driver to unlock the glove box and found suspected heroine inside.  The passenger admitted that the drugs were his.

Officers arrested Jacob Owen Smith and charged him with possession of heroin.  He was booked into the Chattooga County Jail.
