Summerville Police were called to a Martin Street address on Tuesday after a complainant said that her neighbor’s dogs were getting out and being aggressive towards the complainants children.

The complainant told a responding officer that her neighbor across the street has five dogs that frequently get out and come to her yard, and that the dogs have been aggressive towards her children.  The complainant said that she had talked with the neighbor about the problem on several occasions, trying to get the situation resolved.

When the officer arrived on the scene, Chattooga County Animal Control was at the neighbor’s residence and told police that none of the five dogs were vaccinated.  At the time, all of the dogs were secured at the neighbor’s residence.  Animal Control told the neighbor he had one week to get all of the animals vaccinated.  The neighbor agreed to surrender one of the dogs to animal control.

According to the police report, “The complainant wished for a report to be filed because she felt that she would have to use some type of force if the dogs came into her yard (being) aggressive towards her kids again.  The complainant described the dogs as being three pit-bull-type dogs, brown and tan in color, and one was black and white.  The complainant said the fifth dog was a pit-bull-type with a mixture of coloration”.
