Summerville Police are searching for the driver of a large white truck following a hit-and-run collision on Highway 114 late Tuesday evening. The incident occurred as the truck was reportedly attempting to merge due to approaching emergency vehicles.

Officers were dispatched around 9:29 PM to meet with victim Crystal Spriggs, who reported her vehicle had been struck. Spriggs informed police that she was traveling southbound on Highway 114 when a white truck, towing a trailer, attempted to merge into her lane. She believed the truck driver simply failed to notice her vehicle while maneuvering to yield to emergency vehicles in the vicinity.

Following the collision, Spriggs pulled her vehicle into the Dollar General parking lot on Highway 114, anticipating the striking vehicle would stop. However, the white truck continued southbound without stopping, with its exact direction of travel after the Dollar General (whether continuing on Highway 114 or turning onto Highway 100) remaining unclear.

Spriggs described the striking vehicle as a large white truck, possibly a Dodge Ram, towing a black trailer with a wooden flatbed and wooden side rails. A clerk at the Dollar General who witnessed the incident corroborated these details, further specifying the truck as a Dodge Ram 3500 dually model.

Summerville Police have issued a “Be On the Lookout” (BOLO) alert to the Chattooga County Sheriff’s Office, Trion City Police Department, and law enforcement agencies in neighboring Alabama counties and Floyd County.

Spriggs was informed that an incident report would be completed to assist with her insurance claim, and a formal accident report would be prepared upon the identification of the at-fault driver. The investigation into the hit-and-run is ongoing.
