A Summerville resident reported his utility vehicle (UTV) missing from his workshop on Briarwood Drive this past Saturday, prompting an investigation by the Summerville Police Department.

The complainant, Jonathan Blackmon, contacted authorities after discovering his UTV was gone from its usual storage location. Upon arrival, officers observed no signs of forced entry into the workshop.

According to Mr. Blackmon, he and his wife returned from a week-long vacation on October 10th around 4:30 PM. They did not immediately check on the UTV at that time, focusing instead on unpacking. The following morning, October 11th, Mr. Blackmon went to move the vehicle and found it was no longer there.

Mr. Blackmon stated that no one had been given permission to access the workshop or use the UTV during his absence. He did note that the workshop’s roll-up door was found slightly ajar when he went outside that morning. Further questioning revealed that the rear entrance to the workshop had been left unlocked prior to their vacation, though this door is only accessible within a fenced area surrounding the property.

Officers conducted a thorough search of the area for evidence but found no relevant items or signs. Mr. Blackmon provided the necessary insurance and Vehicle Identification Number (VIN) for the UTV. He confirmed that the vehicle was financed and that payments were current, with no outstanding repossession orders expected.

The complainant also informed officers that both sets of keys for the UTV were still in his possession, adding to the puzzling nature of the disappearance without apparent damage.

Following verification with the financial institution that no repossession order had been placed on the vehicle, officers have officially entered the UTV into the system as stolen.

The investigation is ongoing.
