A Summerville woman who told deputies "I just wanted to watch the super bowl and my cable was out", was arrested for DUI on Sunday.

According to an incident report released on Wednesday, the woman – identified as Deborah Hawkins of a Montgomery Street address in Summerville – was stopped at the intersection of Harrisburg Road and Trion-Teloga Road after someone following Hawkins reported to Chattooga 911 that they had observed the vehicle she was driving "run two stop signs and cross the double-yellow line several times."

When Deputy Wendell Flood arrived in the area, he found Hawkin's vehicle "nose down in a ditch".  He helped Hawkins from the vehicle and to the roadway.  The deputy said that he could smell a strong odor of alcohol and asked Ms. Hawkins if she had been drinking.  Hawkins told the deputy "a few and some vodka."  According to the incident report, when Deputy Flood asked Hawkins how she had ended up in the ditch, she told the deputy that she had missed her road and was trying to turn around.  It was at that point that Hawkins told the deputy she was only trying to get somewhere to watch the Superbowl because her cable was out.

Hawkins was placed under arrest for DUI and transported to the Chattooga County Jail.
