A Summerville woman ran from police last Thursday saying "I can't go to jail," which she did once officers apprehended her.

 

Keicia Michelle Farmer,  of a Saddle Club Road address, reportedly was stopped by Chattooga County Sheriff's deputies for running a stop sign at a railroad crossing. She told deputies her license wasn't suspended because she didn't have one.

 

In reality, 40-year-old Farmer did have a suspended license due to a DUI three years ago. 

 

According to the report, when Deputy John Chandler returned to his patrol vehicle to call Farmer's mother to pick up her vehicle, he noticed farmer exiting her vehicle through the front passenger door. She reportedly looked at him and said "I can't go to jail," and then ran toward Lake Wanda Reita Apartments.

 

Chandler's report indicates he ran after her and when he got within 10 feet of the woman she stopped, looked back, and gave up.

 

Farmer was arrested and charged with willful obstruction of a law enforcement officer;  driving with a suspended/revoked license and failure to stop at a  stop sign or railroad crossing.
