Shirley Ann Tapp, of Summerville, died at 4:01 a.m. Saturday due to injuries she sustained in a car wreck on Feb. 18, according to Floyd County Deputy Coroner Gene Proctor.
Tapp, 72, of 996 Chisolm Trail, was a passenger in a 1995 Jeep Cherokee when it hit a tree near the intersection of Highway 27 and Hidden Branches Way
according to Floyd County police reports.
She wasn’t wearing a seat belt when the Jeep hit the tree, Proctor said. Tapp was taken to Floyd Medical Center, which is where Proctor pronounced her dead early Saturday.
The driver of the Jeep, 56-year-old Mary Tapp, of Summerville, Shirley Ann Tapp’s daughter, was pronounced dead on Feb. 19 at 12:05 a.m. by Redmond Regional Medical Center staff.
Proctor said Mary Tapp likely had a heart attack that caused the wreck. She didn’t have any apparent major injuries from the wreck, he added.
