It appears that the Sunday Alcohol sales has the backing of the GOP leadership in both the Georgia House and Senate and Governor Nathan Deal says that he will sign the legislation into law if it reaches his desk.  The bill entered this week into the Georgia House appears to be on "the fast track" to approval and would allow local communities to vote on the issue of Sunday Alcohol Sales.  The bill would allow sales after 12:30 PM on Sundays.

While it is often reported that Georgia is one of only three states that bans Sunday alcohol sales, many counties and municipalities across the nation still ban Sunday Sales – however there are only three states that ban alcohol sales on Sunday throughout the state.  Connecticut, Indiana and Georgia have an outright ban on Sunday sales. 

The bill in the Georgia House is called HB69.  The only registered opposition to the bill came from the Georgia Baptist Convention.
