On Sunday night, a Chattooga County deputy noticed a white Dodge truck without a tail-light cover turning onto Highway 27 at the Mountain View Intersection.  The deputy initiated a traffic stop that ended in a drug arrest for the driver.

According to a report from the sheriff’s office, thirty-five-year-old Kelly Joseph Brown of a Penn Street, Trion address told the deputy that he might have broken the light when he had hit a trailer earlier in the day and that he did not realize the light cover was broken.

The deputy said that Brown appeared to be “hyper in his body actions and nervous during the initial contact.”  Then, Brown’s tag turned out to be off another vehicle and the truck he was driving had cancelled registration and no insurance.  According to the deputy, Brown became even more nervous when he gave consent to the deputy to search the vehicle.  Inside, the deputy found a clear glass device with suspected drug residue.

Brown was arrested and taken to the Chattooga County Jail for possession of methamphetamine, possession of drug related objects and invalid vehicle registration.
