Area law enforcement officials spent a good deal of time yesterday afternoon running down a suspect that fled from officers on foot and later showed up at the Chattooga County Sheriffs Department.
According to the Sheriffs Department, the suspect was pulled over by a Georgia State Patrolman while driving a Ford Expedition. During the course of the traffic stop, the suspect fled on foot and was last seen somewhere on Little Sand Mountain.
It is believed that an acquaintance picked up the suspect and took him somewhere in Floyd County where he changed clothes and cleaned up, and then decided to come back to the Sheriffs Department and report his vehicle STOLEN!
Personnel at the Sheriffs Department identified the man as the one that had been pulled over by the State Trooper and he was taken into custody where he confessed to running away from the Trooper. Twenty year old Michael Darryl Brown, Jr. of a Congress Street adress in Summerville was charged with multiple charges including Fleeing or Attempting to Elude a Police Officer.
