A traffic stop last week on Sloppy Floyd Road in Summerville turned up suspected drugs.  According to a report from the Chattooga County Sheriff’s Office, around 10 AM last Friday, a deputy observed a vehicle failing to maintain a single lane.  The vehicle also had an expired tag.  When the deputy stopped the vehicle, he spoke to two women in the car who said that they had been “hiking”.  The deputy informed the women that it didn’t appear that they had been hiking or were going hiking, and that he was suspicious because there was a lot of drug activity in the area.  After first refusing a consent to search the vehicle, the driver gave verbal consent.  The deputy found a powdery substance in the console of the vehicle that the women claimed was “denture powder”.  The deputy took the substance for testing and it tested positive for fentanyl.  Warrants are pending in connection with the traffic stop.
