A Summerville woman received a check in the mail with a suspicious request which prompted her to call the Chattooga County Sheriff's Office on Wednesday, Feb. 13. According to the report, the woman said the request was buy a woman trying to purchase from her business. Glenda Castleberry said she received an online order for retail products in the amount of $78.11. However, her customer emailed her advising that her auditor had sent her a large check totaling $1800, and requested the difference in the two be sent back. Castleberry said she did receive a check in the mail for that amount, which she turned over to the Sheriff's Office. The investigation reportedly is ongoing.
