Chattooga County Tax Commissioner Joy Hampton has announced that the county will hold a tax sale on Tuesday, September 2, 2025, on the steps of the Chattooga County Courthouse. The sale is specifically designed to address properties with outstanding tax liens filed by the State of Georgia and Chattooga County. Tax Commissioner Hampton, who also serves as Ex-Officio Sheriff, will conduct the sale. Properties will be offered to the highest bidder, with payment required in cash or certified funds. The auction will commence between the legal hours of sale, a standard procedure for the first Tuesday of September. Prospective buyers are strongly advised to conduct their own due diligence regarding any properties of interest prior to the sale. This includes investigating the property’s condition, existing encumbrances, and any potential issues, as properties are typically sold “as-is” at these events.
