Chattooga County Tax Commissioner Joy Hampton says that she will be sending out notices about unpaid tax bills for 2022
The tax commissioner said that there are currently over 300 tax bills from 2022 that were not paid, with $276,000 left to collect. Hampton says that this is common this time of year as many are usually paid once the new bills arrive each year. Since 2023 bills are delayed, the tax commissioner will be sending out extra reminders to property owners who have not yet paid the 2022 bills. These statements coming in the mail actually are bills. They will say “2022 Property Tax Statement” along with her office contact information.
The tax commissioner says she will give an update once she has the file from the Assessor’s Office to begin working on the 2023 tax bills.
**ONLY PROPERTIES OWING TAXES FOR LAST YEAR WILL RECEIVE A NOTICE AT THIS TIME**
