Chattooga County Tax Commissioner Joy Hampton says that residents are taking advantage of the new hours at the Chattooga County Tax Office.  Last week, the tax office opened on the new schedule that has extended hours on Monday, Tuesday, Thursday and Friday and being closed on Wednesdays.

Hampton said, “We finished out the week great after starting our new schedule. We’ve had several customers before 8 am, and another rush after 5 each day.”  Hampton said that she wants residents to get the word out that her office is now closed on Wednesdays.
Hampton added, “I realize it’s new and different, but times are changing and we want to serve you to our maximum abilities. Sure, Monday or Friday would be awesome for us employees, but I know most people buy cars on the weekend and lots of folks get paid on Friday. We want to be available at the times we’re needed most. Several local businesses and the county schools are closed on Mondays, so being open on Mondays allows those employees to do their business with us without taking off from their jobs. If you miss us on Wednesday, we’re here the very next day.”

Open – Monday, Tuesday, Thursday & Friday 7:30 AM – 5:30 PM
