Chattooga County Tax Commissioner Joy Hampton showed WZQZ News flood damage in her office on Monday afternoon.  The tax commissioner says that while her office sustained a good bit of damage, no taxpayers personal records or information were compromised because of the flood.

Hampton said that the majority of damage in her office was to computer systems.  Hampton explained that most of the computers have to sit in the floor due to limited space.  With four to six inches of water covering some of the electrical equipment, there are several computers that will need to be replaced.

Hampton added that her office is able to access the statewide data base needed to conduct business.  Commissioner Hampton says that she will be in and out of the office today to answer voice messages and emails.  It is still unclear when the Chattooga County governmental offices will be fully open for business.
