Yesterday, Chattooga County Superior Court Judge Kristina Cook Graham issued an order closing the Chattooga County Courthouse and the Chattooga County Courthouse Annex until Monday of next week, due to COVID-19 cases among county employees.  However, Tax Commissioner Joy Hampton told WZQZ News that she will have the tax and tag office open today after taking steps to seal off the rest of the building from the entrance to her office on West Washington Street.  Tax Commissioner Hampton said, “As my office is a separate part of the buidling away from the courtroom, and I have enough staff available to work, we’ve closed off the courtroom part of the building and will still be processing payments with limited staff.”
