A Chattooga County teen was recently arrested by the Chattooga County sheriff’s office after he was found asleep in a car parked behind McDonald’s in Summerville.

17-year-old Parker Grayson Huff was arrested early Saturday morning, October 26, 2024, on multiple charges including DUI and possession of marijuana. The arrest took place in the parking lot behind a McDonald’s restaurant at approximately 9:02 AM.

Deputy Rob Villagomez responded to a call regarding a male subject found asleep inside a running vehicle. Upon arrival, the officer discovered Huff slumped over in the driver’s seat, with an almost empty can of Mountain Dew Hard—a caffeinated alcoholic beverage—resting on his left arm, and without wearing a seatbelt. The distinct odors of alcohol and marijuana were evident both from Huff and inside the vehicle. When questioned, Huff admitted to the officer that he had driven to the location an hour prior after consuming alcohol and smoking marijuana throughout the night. He claimed to have consumed two beers just before the officer’s arrival.

Deputy Villagomez initiated a series of field sobriety tests, during which Huff displayed signs of impairment. The Horizontal Gaze Nystagmus exam revealed four out of six clues indicating intoxication, while the Walk and Turn test showed two additional clues of impairment. Though the One-Leg Stand test was passed, the Romberg test indicated further impairment with continuous eyelid tremors, commonly associated with marijuana use. A preliminary breath test showed Huff’s blood alcohol content (BAC) at 0.06, exceeding the legal limit of 0.02 for individuals under 21. Following the tests, Huff reportedly acknowledged his wrongdoing, stating, “I f***** up, I’m not gonna lie to y’all,” while also revealing a yellow cigar wrapper containing marijuana that he had hidden in his sock.

After being taken into custody, Huff was informed about the implied consent laws for minors, which he agreed to, resulting in a blood draw administered by paramedics. He was subsequently transported to the local jail where he was charged for DUI, possession of less than an ounce of marijuana, and additional traffic offenses.
