The Georgia State Patrol said that 10 people died on Georgia roads during the Thanksgiving holiday travel period as of Sunday. 

Reports added that 2 of those 10 were in Floyd County.  In Floyd County, Justin Payton, age 18 of Cedartown was fatally injured Sunday near Georgia Highlands College; meanwhile the other victim, 21 year old Jesse Tyler Law of Cartersville, was fatally injured near Kingston on Thanksgiving.

According to the GSP, the Thanksgiving holiday is typically one of the busiest travel periods of the year. The holiday travel period is 102 hours long. It began at 6:00pm on Wednesday, November 25th, and ended at midnight on Sunday, November 29th.

Last year during a similar 102 hour travel period, troopers investigated 676 traffic crashes that resulted in 288 injuries and 15 fatalities during the Thanksgiving holiday travel period.
