Earlier this month,  a Tennessee woman was charged with DUI after failing field sobriety tests and refusing to provide a breath sample to officers.

The incident happened at the intersection of East Washington and Penn Street as Chattooga County deputies were working with Summerville Police at a checkpoint.  After asking the driver of a Chevrolet Malibu with Tennessee tags for her drivers license, officer noticed that twenty-seven-year-old Amanda Madison of Brentwood, Tennessee appeared to be under the influence of alcohol.  Officers also notices several empty alcoholic beverage cans in the woman’s vehicle.

Officers said “While on the scene, Ms. Madison became argumentative with me and refused to step out of the vehicle.”  Madison refused to obey several lawful orders, according to the officers.

Madison was charged with obstruction of law enforcement and taken to the Chattooga County Jail.
