A Summerville man reported to authorities that while watching the news on television he'd recognized two women that had recently been arrested in Rome for running a scam.
He said the pair came to his church and told the congregation they needed money for travel expenses and gasoline because a family member had just died in an auto accident in Florida
He stated that a total of $172 was taken up for the woman calling herself Pam Green and he added that she requested only cash, no checks.
According to the incident report the suspect calling herself Pam Green was actually Theresa Duffy, who is currently residing at the Floyd County Jail, along with her alleged accomplice – identified as Nancy Bennett.
Both women list their address as being West Big Indian Trail in Floyd County and both had been taken into custody late last month charged with Theft by Deception for using the same sob story to defraud money out of others.
