A Back Berryton Road, Summerville man reported a theft to the Chattooga County Sheriff’s Office.  According to a report released this week, the theft happened last month when two white males came on the property of Ed Hammitt and stole the front wheel and tires off a 1997 Dodge Ram truck.  Mr. Hammitt captured the incident on his trail cam.

In the pictures he supplied to the responding deputy, the subjects appeared to have been planning to steal the rear wheels and tires as well, but were not able to do so.  The thieves left a socket and four-way lug wrench on the ground and camouflage backpack on the hood of the truck.

The photos showed two white males, one of which was wearing the back pack when they arrived. A truck with no tag was backed up to the cable across the drive way. Photos show the males bringing the wheels down and loading them into the bed of the truck.

The incident has been turned over to an investigator.
