When a Chattooga County Public Works employee arrived at the county building on Stockade Road around 5:30 Tuesday morning, he discovered that a door had been broken into.  The employee notified Public Works Director Lamar Canada and law enforcement.

Canada said that the building was broken into on the north side and that the thieves gained access through a wooden door.  Once inside they kicked in the door of Canada’s office and took a lap-top computer and the keys from a desk.  It is believed that they may have used the keys to gain access to some other rooms in the building.

The intruders kicked in a door on the inside of the building and gained access to the area where the saws were kept.  Canada said that they took several chain saws from the public works building.  He said that currently there were no suspects and that law enforcement was working on the case.
