For the third time, copper thieves have struck the old Marine Armory on Shorter Avenue, reports stated.

According to Rome police reports:

Thieves cut copper tubing to at least three air conditioning units doing an estimated $3,000 in damage on Thursday night. The stolen tubing was valued at $600.

The city-owned armory is being remodeled as a gymnastics center and headquarters of the Rome-Floyd Parks and Recreation Authority.

Earlier in the week, someone got onto the roof and removed 40 feet of copper from the air conditioning units. Copper also was stolen from the facility last week.
