A tragic accident on Highway 27 in Rock Spring on August 31st has claimed the life of a third victim. The accident happened shortly after 9 AM near the intersection of Fields Drive and Highway 27 when a vehicle being driven by Trion resident, sixty-five-year-old Jerry Glenn Payne crossed the median and struck a vehicle driven by forty-one-year-old Tonya-Joan Marie Overbay of Summerville. Payne had suffered a heart-attack, causing him to lose control of the vehicle. Payne was pronounced dead at the scene, and Overbay was taken to a Chattanooga hospital where she later passed away from her injuries. A passenger in Payne’s vehicle, nineteen-year-old Cameron Eli Lyons was seriously injured. Lyons succumbed to his injuries on Saturday. Funeral arrangements for Mr. Lyons are pending.
