Three businesses have submitted their names to obtain a license from the City of Summerville to sell package liquor. The city will be holding a lottery tomorrow to grant two licenses.
After voters in Summerville approved the sale of packaged liquor, the city council voted to award licenses by a lottery. The city began receiving applications for the packaged liquor licenses on July 28th of this year. The applications were accepted until August 11th. The council will be requiring that each of the two stores stock $350,000 worth of booze. Originally, they had talked about requiring a half-million dollars in inventory for each store. Also, the stores will be paying a $5,000 per year liquor license fee – more if they want to sell beer and wine as well.
The three business who have applied for the licenses are: Athrv, LLC, BP Services, LLC, and Askhar Golden, LLC.
The lottery will take place tomorrow morning at 11 AM at Summerville City Hall.
