Trion High School officials were caught off guard on Monday of this week when the news came the matchup between the Trion Bulldogs and the Armuchee Indians that was scheduled for Friday night, was rescheduled for Thursday night.
Trion School Supt. Dr. Phil Williams told WZQZ News on Monday that officials with Armuchee made a unilateral decision to move the game from Friday night to Thursday night. Williams said that his understanding was the reason Armuchee moved the game was that local football officials were concerned about a shortage of officials to call the game on Friday.
Dr. Williams said, “Usually, both coaches agree on something like that, but our coach wasn’t in the loop.”
The Armuchee Indians had a bye week last week and have had eight days to get ready for the Thursday night matchup. The Bulldogs will have only three days off the field.
WZQZ will broadcast the Trion-Armuchee game on Thursday evening.
