The Georgia Department of Agriculture is now taking applications for the Georgia Agriculture Tax Exemption, or GATE. GATE was recently created by the Georgia Legislature and offers qualified agriculture producers a sales tax exemption on equipment and production inputs, including energy used in production of agriculture products. The program will replace the Ag Certicicate Exemption Form, effective January 1. Applications are now available online at Agr.Georgia.gov  There is a $20 fee for online applicants and a $25 fee for those that are mailed in. For more information call 1-800-FARM TAX.
