The Town of Lyerly received a nice Christmas gift this year when a citizen donated 5 acres of land.

Property owner, Steve Baker, contacted the Town about donating the land as he, “doesn’t have much use for it”. The 5 acres of land are adjacent to the Lyerly water tower located on Oak Hill Rd. The town already had an easement through the property as a large water line ran through it.

Baker said that, “it seemed like a good thing to do”. Town clerk, Sally Kerce was very excited to hear about the donation, stating that ‘it isn’t every day someone donates 5 acres.’
