COMMUNITY DEVELOPMENT BLOCK GRANT PROJECT (CDBG)
The Town of Trion is considering applying to the Georgia Department of Community Affairs for a Community Development Block Grant of up to $500,000.00. These funds must be used to primarily benefit low- and moderate-income persons.
The activities for which these funds may be used are in the areas of housing, public facilities, and economic development. More specific details regarding the eligible activities, plans to assist displaced persons (if any), the estimated amount of funds proposed to be used for activities to benefit low- and moderate-income persons, and the rating system will be provided at a public hearing which will be held on March 10, 2016 at 10:30 AM at the Town Hall located at 1220 Pine Street, Trion, Georgia.
The purpose of the hearing will be to obtain citizen input into the development of the application and to review progress on previous CDBG grants (if applicable).
The Town of Trion also abides by the following laws as they pertain to HUD Assisted Projects: Title VI of the Civil Rights Act of 1964; Section 109 of the HCD Act of 1974, Title 1; Title VII of the Civil Rights Act of 1968 (Fair Housing Act); Section 104(b)(2) of the Housing and Community Development Act of 1974; Section 504 of the Rehabilitation Act of 1973 as amended; Title II of the Americans with Disabilities Act of 1990 (ADA); and the Architectural Barriers Act of 1968.
